10 Current Bands Keeping Nu Metal Music Alive
8. My Ticket Home
Bursting out of Ohio with a hardcore EP in 2009, My Ticket Home quickly found their footing as an aggressive metalcore outfit, blending the noughties favourite metal genre with one of its forefathers: hardcore punk. In 2013, however, everything changed with the release of their second LP, Strangers Only.
Much to the surprise of the budding fanbase they'd cultivated with their earlier releases, My Ticket Home went all in on nu metal at a point where the genre was considered all but dead in most circles. With just vague hints of metalcore garnished over the new urban proceedings, the group hit listeners with an edgy blast from the past.
Bidding farewell to longtime label Rise Records, the group continued to explore their keen interest in nu metal with 2017's UnReal. Not satisfied with just one major music fad from the '90s, the headbangers experimented with a heavy fusion of nu metal and grunge, ultimately dubbing their creation 'puke rock'.
In the six years since, My Ticket Home have remained curiously dormant on the recording front, seemingly missing the currently simmering nu metal revival that their work is tailor-made for.
