10 Delayed Hard Rock Albums That Weren't Worth The Wait

8. The Trilogy - Green Day

Green Day have more than earned their right not to be rushed through the recording process. Since they have reinvented what the look of punk was going to be two times over on Dookie and American Idiot, these are clearly guys who are only making music for themselves at this point. Still, selling a trilogy of albums in this market feels like way too much Green Day all at once.

Being in production hell for the better part of 2 years, most of these tracks tend to feel half finished, which is definitely not a good sign when you realize the combined length of these things is two hours long. While the Green Day that everyone knows is still in there somewhere, this is some of the most underwhelming songs that they've offered, and in the worst cases some of the worst songs they've made like Nightlife.

By the time that Billie Joe Armstrong checked himself into rehab, the idea of stretching the release dates out didn't make any sense, with Tre being rush released towards the tail end of 2012 without so much as a proper music video to go with any of the songs. That says more about what they thought than they probably realized. These weren't albums that they had too much heart and soul. They were albums that were sent kicking and screaming out the door.
