10 Delayed Hard Rock Albums That Weren't Worth The Wait
4. 13 - Black Sabbath
There was more hype and buzz surrounding Black Sabbath's 13 before the record even had a name. Although the actual album didn't come out until June of 2013, the record was in talks ever since the dawn of the '00s, where Sabbath just couldn't get it together long enough to make it into the studio. When we finally got the end product though, it was...fine.
Yeah, there's nothing really more to say about Sabbath's final take with Ozzy behind the mic. This is exactly the kind of Sabbath that you fell in love with back in the day, only more seasoned and with Tony Iommi showing off a few more chops than you would expect from a man who lost the tips of his fingers before even deciding to continue with music full time. The only issue is...that's really all there is.
Compared to the other entries on this list where everything went wrong, 13 is a return to form that plays it a little too safe, often staying in its lane and never really breaking any new ground. Then again, when you have guys who have been in the game this long, you work with the best that you have, and Sabbath should be commended for sounding this good in their old age. Still, with over a decade of anticipation, this is nothing more and nothing less than the Sabbath you know.
