10 Dream Heavy Metal Tour Line-Ups

8. Cannibal Corpse, Carcass & Venom Prison

After their visceral scorcher of a debut album – Animus – generated a nationwide buzz in the UK thanks to its mixture of gory brutality and significant, feminist lyrics, Venom Prison have quickly soared into the status of being one of death metal’s future giants. The quintet are also a one-of-a-kind live band, creating an evil, grinding atmosphere that has stunned and shocked audiences at Download, Bloodstock and beyond.

To legitimise these new debutants as the future of extreme, disturbing metal, a tour with two of the most legendarily morbid bands needs to be organised. Headlining would be Cannibal Corpse, who have spent the last thirty years swimming in controversy as a result of their sadistic, horror-themed lyrics and notoriously graphic artworks. The New Yorkers are also responsible for some of the biggest anthems that their subgenre has ever borne witness to, most infamously the incendiary “Hammer Smashed Face” and the skull-rattling “Evisceration Plague”.

The grindcore-turned-death metal heroes Carcass would be the filling of this bloody sandwich, boasting anatomical lyrics and a career-length consistency that would perfectly complement Cannibal Corpse and Venom Prison.

With these three sharing the same bill, audiences would surely be in for a gloriously unsettling and brutal evening.
