10 Dumbest Decisions Rock Bands Have Ever Made

9. David Bowie's Circus Vision

When it comes to tying an artist to a genre of rock music, you pretty much have to put David Bowie in every single category. Compared to the usual blues rock or even hard rock that comes from different artists, Bowie has always worn his influences like costumes, going from glam to soul to hard rock without batting an eye. While all of them have been some degree of good, the same can't be said for his campy beginnings.

Released on the exact same day as the Beatles album Sgt. Peppers, David Bowie's debut is full of the cheesiest moments of the Summer of Love, having songs with vaudevillian leanings than anything worthwhile. Whereas the rest of the rock world was talking about love and peace, the songs on here run more like material that would be blaring over a Saturday morning cartoon show, with Bowie as your reluctant host.

It's not like Bowie saw this as a full blown masterpiece either, going on to call it one of the worst things he has ever done and outright denying it as a central part of his discography. There's probably an alternate universe where David Bowie actually took up the life of a clown instead of a rock star, and we're all the better that we got put in this timeline instead.
