10 Even More Perfect 1990s Rock Albums With No Bad Songs
5. Moseley Shoals - Ocean Colour Scene
For those with a penchant for the more indie side of rock and roll, Ocean Colour Scene put out the flawless Moseley Shoals in 1996.
Often incorrectly cited as the band's first album, Moseley Shoals was actually the second OCS release, following in the footsteps of the Birmingham collective's self-titled debut four years prior. Having two massive singles like The Riverboat Song and The Day We Caught the Train clearly helped with the popularity and success of Moseley Shoals - especially with the former being forever featured on the white-hot TFI Friday show of the time - but this is an album that's far more than just two bangin' tracks.
You've Got It Bad and The Circle were the other singles from this '96 record - all four of the album's singles penetrating the UK Top 10 - yet it's the delicacy and craftmanship of songs like Lining Your Pockets and It's My Shadow, complete with blues-infused numbers like 40 Past Midnight and One for the Road, that make this a special release.
Making Moseley Shoals all the more spectacular, OCS close out the record with eight minutes of brilliance in the shape of Get Away - where guitarist Steve Cradock gets to run wild.
