10 Famous Musicians Who Literally Did The Same Thing Every Time

4. Accidentally Creating Rap Rock - Rage Against The Machine

With grunge dominating the rock scene in the early 90's, it almost seemed like a mistake that Rage Against the Machine broke out the way they did. On the other hand, it would have to take the most cynical of hard rockers to not headbang to this band's undeniable hooks.

When these guys first got together, their eclectic mix of punk, metal, hip hop, and rock were what made them one of the primary voices of their generation. Before they knew it, the exciting sounds of the band's debut would manifest itself into what is now known as nu metal.

Given all the accolades the band had received, most of their next records were an brilliant display of doubling down on their solid foundation. Across every cut from the band's glory days, the fury coming from Zack de la Rocha's lyrics were only matched by the incredibly funky effects coming from Tom Morello's guitar. While the results tended to have common themes, Rage captured the true essence of civilian restlessness into one brilliant sonic package. There may have been many bands coming out trying to ape this band's style, but the organic anger RATM is able to generate accepts no substitutes.
