10 Famous Songs About Real People (That Nobody Can Identify)

8. Eyeless - Slipknot

In the early days of Slipknot, the band were taking the darkest subjects they have ever lived through and channeled them into a visceral assault on the senses. While many songs dealt with horror movie scenarios and righteous indictments of people in control, the origins of "Eyeless" stem from something closer to home.

When the band were recording their debut in Los Angeles, Corey Taylor decided to take a break from the hectic studio environment and take a walk down the city streets. As he was making his way through LA, he was met by a homeless man in the middle of the street, who kept heckling Taylor and screaming "you can't see California without Marlon Brando's eyes."

Once arriving back in the studio, Taylor set out to write lyrics for one of the band's tunes, quickly using the phrase from the homeless man to fit the song. Upon getting their first big break at Ozzfest, "Eyeless" became a fan favorite from the band and album, which would go on to catapult Slipknot into the upper echelons of metal gods. Though the homeless man may not have gotten credit for his deranged diatribes, his immortal words have been in the heads of Maggots for over 2 decades.
