10 Final Songs That Will Give You Chills
8. One More Light - Linkin Park
Linkin Park definitely had an uphill battle to make with the release of their record One More Light. Despite having some rotation on radio from songs like Heavy, the new direction towards pop music was a lot more than your average rock fans could stomach. Once Chester Bennington passed away though, it certainly put a lot more of these lyrics into perspective.
Outside of the glistening production of most of these tracks, the album's title cut is still hard to listen back to given Chester's passing. Written by Mike Shinoda regarding the passing of one of their close friends at the record label, the sound of Chester talking about someone he can no longer reach is genuinely unsettling when he isn't even here to tell the tale anymore.
Even though his death was labelled as a suicide, you can hear the compassion and pain that Chester was feeling during this time, saying that he will be the one person still there caring for you even if everyone else has passed you by. While many fans have looked at songs like Breaking the Habit and Nobody Can Save Me through morbid glasses, this is the way we should really look back on Chester's memory. Thoughtful...compassionate...and a kind soul.
