10 Forgotten 90s Rock Bands Worth Rediscovering

8. Scott 4

Doubtless there will be a small army of Scott 4 fans out there nodding their heads in appreciation of this magnificent band's inclusion on this list. A three-piece from London, UK, famously once described as "electronic cowpunks" (whatever that means), you'd have to look far and wide to find an equally talented and adventurous unit.

That the group named themselves after a record by the legendary eccentric, Scott Walker, should tell you much. Scott 4, who formed in 1995, put out their last work in 2004, but it's their three '90s albums which cemented their reputation.

Scott 4's music was well-received at the time, by both critics and fans, and they developed a formidable reputation as a live outfit. Their work, though, was never going to be commercial enough to secure lasting success. In truth, they probably were ahead of their time.

Had Scott 4 emerged in the wake of Radiohead's OK Computer, might they have been more widely appreciated?

We'll never know, but what we can be thankful for is the fantastic music which the band left behind. You'll hear future echoes of everyone from Beck and John Grant to the aforementioned Radiohead in Scott 4s discography, which says much about just how important their legacy remains.
