10 Great Grinspoon Tracks

6. Hard Act To Follow

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKmx12kIs-I Album number four, 'Thrills, Kills & Sunday Pills', was a real controversial move. Hiring super producer, Howard Benson that has worked with a huge range of artists, from Pop starlet. Kelly Clarkson, to Thrash Metal bruisers, Sepultura and everyone inbetween. Renowned for a very slick and polished, "big" sound, he is also best known for his focus on the singer of artists he works with and pushing for just the right performance. I adore this album, but some more stayed fans, couldn't see past the fact that this was an album you couldn't "mosh" to. Instead it was one that you danced to, chilled to, listened to with your other half, or just partied to. The inevitable cries of "sell out", weren't far away, but the band just enjoyed the success that the album brought them and welcomed a new influx of fans that, inevitably, would've checked out their back catalogue. The song I've chosen, kicks off the record in fine style, and has a snotty, AC/DC style riff that is the basis of proceedings, and even the guitar tone has that lovely, dry, mid-heavy tone that the Young brothers would most definitely approve of. This ditty also boasts a video that fits the music perfectly. Definitely one of the best promo clips in their extensive collection.

Live and work in Aberdeen, Scotland...unfortunately. Sang in My Minds Weapon (Basick/Drakkar/Sony) for ten years (2002 - 2012) and now just tinkering with various other projects. Die hard Leeds United fan. Metalhead in my heart but also love many other genres of music. Also enjoy anything with Christopher Walken or David Caruso. Family live in Perth, Australia, so have been there many times. Best place in the world.
