10 Great Guitarists In Terrible Bands

1. Wes Borland - Limp Bizkit

At this point, can we all be an agreement that letting Limp Bizkit have chart success was a mistake? While nu metal was the order of the day, the difference in song quality between bands like Korn and Fred Durst's unholy brainchild is almost like night and day. For as much that was wrong about this band, Wes Borland ended up being the one saving grace of the group's career.

Rather than just bury his guitar beneath dropped tunings and power chords, Borland approached the guitar like a mad genius. The way he would go about making strange and otherworldly sounds with just a guitar seemed to be a weird combination of Frank Zappa and Tom Morello that no one knew they needed in their life. Even when just playing power chords, Borland ended up making tracks like "Break Stuff" pretty decent if only for a few seconds, with that delayed guitar loop getting you ready for something epic on the horizon.

The amount of kickass concentrated in this one musician almost makes you forget that you're listening to the same band that put out stuff like "Rollin" and "Nookie." Limp Bizkit is not a band that deserves to stand the test of time, but it would be a crime if the rock world was robbed of Wes Borland's talent.
