10 Great Hard Rock Songs Under 2 Minutes Long

2. There Goes My Gun - Pixies

The most famous sub-two minute song on Pixies' second album Doolittle is the one minute and 24 second-long Crackity Jones.

Inspired by lead singer Black Francis' run-ins with a crazed roommate in Puerto Rico, the song is a rapid fire tour through this man's head with lightning quick playing from all involved.

That could have been our pick here, but the song is a little too intense for our liking. Also, that Hispanic accent from Francis has not aged well.

Instead, we've gone for another track off the album called There Goes My Gun, which is a whole 25 seconds longer than Crackity Jones!

The audacity!

The song is a lot slower and simpler than its cousin, repeating the same four lines over and over again in varying combinations.

However, when the statements are a blunt as "There goes my gun" and "Friend is foe", you don't really need the band to explain themselves.

This track is more musically interesting and makes a much stronger statement, despite its short length and less complicated structure.

Also, and this is important, nobody is doing a dodgy Puerto Rican accent on There Goes My Gun.
