8. Our Hollow, Our Home - "Worms Wood" Single
The heaviness doesn't ease up as up-and-coming British metalcore act Our Hollow, Our Home takes the reins at number 8. This week saw the South Coast natives unveil their brand new single and music video, "Worms Wood": a thrashing trailblazer that somehow progresses from untamed and abrasive to melodic and full of sing-alongs.
The track roars to life as a deathcore banger, with the ungodly hard, resonating growls of vocalist Connor Hallisey ruling the roost as guitarist Tobias Young occasionally rears his head with some clean backing. But as the single continues, the balance switches: Young's harmonies take over and transform "Worms Wood" into a calmer, Wovenwar-esque rocker complimented by Hallisey's screams.
Sure, we've seen many metalcore songs be mostly harsh or mostly melodic, but for "Worms Wood" to be both in the space of 4 minutes is something that truly showcases the promise of this rising British quintet.
