8. Converge Begins Work On Their Ninth Album
In what is the first of many album-orientated news pieces on this list, mathcore pioneers Converge confirmed on Monday that they have begun work in the studio for what will be their ninth, currently unnamed album.
The anticipated follow-up to 2012's All We Love We Leave Behind, the record will have a great weight on its shoulders as it tries to justify a near-five-year waiting time for fans. But since this is Converge we're talking about (who, arguably, haven't put out one band album in their 25-plus-year lifespan), the metal world can be confident that we will be getting something great in the future.
