10 Greatest Debut Albums Of All Time

1. 'Are You Experienced' by the Jimi Hendrix Experience

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SXVOkJTSTs I have longed dreamed of being able to travel back to the mid-1960s. I have no real passion for the styles or the culture, any more so than I do for any other time period. I only wish I could do this so I would have the chance to experience, for the first time, the thunderous opening to Jimi Hendrix's amazing "Foxy Lady". Judging the most important and most influential piece of music is incredibly difficult, as everyone has different taste. However, one of the only moments hardly anyone will debate is when the Jimi Hendrix Experience made their debut in 1967. It took the world by storm. No one had heard anything quite like it before. Sure, there had been plenty of innovators, both in pop music and in the way guitar was played (Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, etc) but no one did it as well and with as much flair as Hendrix. Despite the fact that most of the heights he would reach was later in his short career, his debut was every bit as impressive. It contained some of his biggest hits, and it single-handedly changed the way people viewed the role of the electric guitar in music. With songs like "Foxy Lady", "Purple Haze", "Manic Depression", "Hey Joe", and "The Wind Cries Mary", this album cemented its position as the greatest debut of all time. Album Cover:

Are You Experienced

There cannot be just one best song. Go listen to the whole thing. You'll thank me later.

And that sums it up for this article. What other debut albums are among the best? Sound off in the comments below!
