10 Greatest Feel Good Rock Songs

4. Nine in the Afternoon - Panic at the Disco

Amidst the pop punk explosion in the mid '00s, Panic at the Disco were originally one of the most eccentric of the bunch. Long before the band became a glorified solo outing for Brendon Urie, their use of theatrics and drama brought a unique edge to the typical emo diatribes of their songs. However, things weren't always doom and gloom from track to track.

Opening up the band's second album Pretty. Odd., "Nine in the Afternoon" is one of the sunniest tracks of the '00s, whose sound owes a little bit to the pop stylings of the '60s. While the song may or not be about getting high during the day, the care-free attitude of this song makes everything seem much more bombastic than it really is. From start to finish, this feels like an homage to the Beatles style of songwriting, from the use of strings to the layered harmonies that Urie and guitarist Ryan Ross perform throughout the calming outro.

The band's debut always hinted that they would be going onto bigger things, but the transition into something this sunny was a welcome change of pace from them catering to the more dramatic side of Hot Topic. Panic may be a bit of a different beast nowadays, but the entire rock scene would kill for something as good as this one more time.
