10 Greatest Female Hard Rock Guitarists
2. Lzzy Hale - Halestorm
The 2010's was known as a pretty dark time for the world of hard rock. While it's unfair to say that the genre was dying, there weren't any major acts making waves other than the old dogs coming through with new albums of their own, with some being a lot more abysmal than others. Even though it seemed like the death knell may have been starting for rock and roll, Lzzy Hale unpacked her Gibson Explorer and threw caution to the wind with Halestorm.
As opposed to the more commercial rock trying to get on the charts, Hale's riffs seem to be hair metal by way of Slipknot in some places, almost as if she's taken every powerful rock and roll song ever made and applied the rules to suit her own needs. That pales in comparison to when you see them live though, as she is every bit the rock star she would like to be, even going so far as to play leads that harmonize with her vocal melodies.
There have been plenty of generic rock stars coming down the pipeline, but the new and improved sounds on Halestorm's records may help signal the new guard of rock and roll. It's time that the old dogs move over a bit...we're about to usher in a whole new generation of kickass.
