10 Greatest Female Hard Rock Singers Of All Time
7. Courtney Love - Hole
There has been countless people who have tried to denounce Courtney Love for years now. From being the unintended Yoko Ono to Kurt Cobain's John Lennon to releasing an album just a few months after her husband's death, it's almost like the alternative community were looking for excuses to blame her for the destruction of the grunge scene. Even with all of the scorn thrown her way, have you ever sat down and listened to her music?
Being brought up in the riot grrl scene, Hole's first few releases have some of the most underrated cuts of the grunge scene, many of which come from Love herself. As opposed to the more gutteral delivery of people like Eddie Vedder or Chris Cornell, Love's gruff way of singing is perfect for the type of music she plays, almost as if she's doing a mock-up of the typical alt-rock styles on songs like Celebrity Skin.
Even on the more hated records like Live Through This, Love still has her heart on her sleeve, tearing through some songs as she comes to grips with losing one of the most important people in her life. While she hasn't necessarily been the most prolific musician as of late, you're doing yourself a disservice if you overlook Hole's first records just for the name attached.
