10 Greatest Hip Hop Producers Of All Time

1. Dr Dre

You'd be hard-pressed to find a more influential producer in the world of hip hop than Compton's own Dr Dre. Even during his days as the hitmaker behind N.W.A's biggest hits including F**k Tha Police and Straight Outta Compton, there weren't many who believed Dre would go on to achieve the success he's had.

Although his production was outstanding on the N.W.A albums, his signature, G-Funk sound really came to fruition when he was signed to Death Row records. It was here where the musical influence from funk groups from the 70s like the Ohio Players started to show more than ever, especially on classics like California Love and Nuthin' But A G Thang.

Once his time with Death Row ended and he started his own record label, Aftermath Entertainment, he's helped mould and craft songs for hip hop heavyweights like Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent and that's not even mentioning the stellar work he's done with artists outside of his immediate camp

Dre's magnificent ability to take take aspects of songs with a strong, soulful element and make them fit seamlessly onto a hard, catch beat has never been replicated, despite the fact that he's inspired hundreds of producers since he first came onto the scene, making him the greatest producer hip hop has ever seen.
