10 Greatest Hip Hop Producers Of All Time

3. Kanye West

Everyone and their mother has an opinion on Kanye West. You either love him, hate him or you're indifferent towards him but you can't deny that the man is outrageously talented. Brought into the Rocafella fold as a produer at a young age, West has consistently provided quality production for a number of rappers, including Jay Z, Cam'ron and, of course, himself.

He was one of the first notable people to speed up soul samples and use them over beats during the early 2010s and many producers followed suit to try and jump on the bandwagon he was steering. Songs like Slow Jamz and Through The Wire still stand the test of time today, something a lot of tracks from that era can't do.

Then just when everyone thought they had Mr. West all figured out, he went and changed his style again completely for his underrated 808s and Heartbreaks record, bringing his use drum patterns to the forefront and using autotune as more of an instrument than anything else.

The thing about Kanye is that he's not afraid to try things out. If he fails, he does sospectacularly and everyone laughs. However, more often than not, he succeeds and when he does the effect is astronomical. He might not be your cup of tea, but the man certainly knows how to create masterpieces.
