10 Greatest Metal Singers Of All Time
2. Bruce Dickinson
Coming out of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal scene, Iron Maiden exuded everything you could have hoped for in a metal band. With every riff, the music felt like it was racing toward you, about to pummel your face into the ground. Even though Paul Di'anno worked wonders in the band's early days, Bruce Dickinson had the firepower that Maiden needed to wipe out the competition.
From his debut on The Number of the Beast, Dickinson lived up to his nickname of being a true air raid siren whenever he stepped up to the mic. His vocal style was always filled with the highest amount of intensity possible, as he told truly dark tails of war, Satan, and the evils of man. Rather than being a metal vocalist who relies on screaming, Dickinson's vocal style was precise singing with the same energy that your standard screamer would employ. That way, you would get tuneful melodies through Bruce's manic delivery.
As the band continues on, Dickinson's scream has not failed him over for 40 years, as he takes to the stage every night with the same energy he had in his prime. A classic example of going from a hungry kid to a monster metal force.
