10 Greatest Rock Music Guitar Solos Of The 1980s

4. Back In Black - AC/DC

AC/DC were nearly wiped out for good upon the death of lead singer Bon Scott in early 1980. Without their frontman, the band were at a loose end, but quickly got it together to release one of the biggest albums of all time.

Having brought in new vocalist Brian Johnson, AC/DC put out Back in Black that same year. With many great songs to choose from - Hell's Bells, You Shook Me All Night Long, Shoot to Kill - it was a tough choice picking which one should make the list, but sometimes, you just have to go with the obvious.

Performed by demented genius Angus Young, the solo to the song Back in Black is hard rock royalty. There isn't much to say about its technical elements, just that it sounds amazing and gets right under your skin. It's the same formula that made early rock 'n' roll such a big hit, only at a much higher volume.

The solo on Back in Black is an epitome of AC/DC as a band; not particularly clever, but damn entertaining just the same.
