10 Greatest Secret Music Concerts Of All Time

4. Radiohead

WHERE: Park Stage, Glastonbury Festival

WHEN: June 24th, 2011

This whole list could be made up of bands sneaking into Pilton, setting up and blowing some unsuspecting punters' minds. Lady Gaga, Pulp, Skrillex and The Killers are just a few names to have rocked up unannounced at the greatest festival in the world, but your writer think it's fair to say, these surprise Glasto gigs peaked in 2011.

Listed on the running order as "Special Guests", the names being thrown around spoke for themselves. Was it Arctic Monkeys, fresh from releasing jangle-pop classic Suck It And See literally the week before? Was it The Killers, who'd had unfinished business from their underwhelming Pyramid Stage set a couple of years prior? Was it Viva Brother? No.

By Friday morning, it was the worst kept secret in Pilton. Oxford's finest were in town to play their first full show on UK soil in 2 years. By midday, the Park stage had to be closed off to any newcomers. By 6, the entire Park Area of the festival had to be closed off too. At 8pm, Yorke and co. took the stage to one of the festival's most deafening ovations.

Punters may have been disappointed if they were expecting a run of The Bends and OK Computer classics, but Radiohead will never shut up and play the hits; it's what makes them great. So, after debuting a number of tracks from that February's King of Limbs, the singalong that greeted a climactic Street Spirit (Fade Out) continued well into the night.

Understated, yet still creating utter magic. It's the Radiohead way.
