10 Greatest Tribute Albums In Hard Rock
6. Electric Messiah - High On Fire
Most people going into a High On Fire record know what they are getting. Seeing how Matt Pike has been a legend of the stoner rock genre longer than most other bands have been alive, there's no point in slowing down the sludgy metallic train from coming through one more time. As we reached the 2010's though, Pike had a little bit more to say than your average metal lyrics.
Across Electric Messiah, the lyrics seem to be centered around one specific person, who seems to be a man that doesn't suffer fools gladly and will stomp out anyone who stands in his way. Accompanied by some of the most feral riffs that Pike had pumped out in ages, this album serves as an autobiography of Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead, which makes sense considering the fact that a band like High On Fire probably couldn't exist without Lemmy's ferocious approach to vocals and rock and roll.
From one track to the next, it's clear that Pike has studied under Lemmy for some time and is now ready to take every lesson he was taught and apply them to his own unique brand of heavy. Wherever Lemmy may be nowadays, you'd better believe that he's pouring one out for something like this.
