10 Hard Rock Albums Artists Want You To Forget About

9. State of Euphoria - Anthrax

From one thrash legend to another, Anthrax never really seemed to know what they wanted in the early days. Going from one singer to another and even flirting with rap metal with Public Enemy, Anthrax's music always seemed to take a little bit from every heavy genre of music and mix it into one thing. Coming off of Among the Living though, the band has said that State of Euphoria left a lot to be desired.

Which is strange considering that it's not too far off from the thrashy goodness that you're used to from them. From start to finish, the record is still a solid as hell outing, even their cover of Antisocial becoming a go-to singalong at every one of their shows. However, the vitriol towards this record goes more into the production of it than anything else.

Written in conjunction with Scott Ian's side project S.O.D., a lot of State of Euphoria was thrown together in a bit of a slapdash way to meet a deadline before they went out on tour again. As such, most of Ian's feelings about the final mix leaves songs feeling half baked rather than the final form they were supposed to be. Then again, even if you're rough drafts are still this good, you're clearly on the right track.
