10 Hard Rock Bands Who FIRED Important Members
6. Guns N Roses - Steven Adler
You don't get the name of being the World's Most Dangerous Band by accident.
By the time that Guns N Roses had come off tour promoting their first album Appetite for Destruction, it was clear that Slash and Duff McKagan were as much a danger to themselves as they were to people around them, getting trashed every night and dancing a bit too close to the fire. In Axl Rose's eyes though, they were necessary. Steven Adler was not.
Although Duff and Slash had the habit of hitting the booze, Steven Adler's growing dependence on heroin was getting too much for the rest of the band to take. After working like a dog on the road, Adler was barely able to get his act together when going into recording the Use Your Illusion records, oftentimes screwing up in between takes and relapsing at his house.
Slash and Duff couldn't even help him at this point either, saying that they went to his house and would find stuff behind the toilet. Since this was going to be the Guns' ambitious double record, Steven was out the door and replaced with Matt Sorum.
It only got worse for Adler though, who would eventually suffer a cocaine induced stroke as the years went on. While he's been on the road to recovery for years now, the chances of him coming back to GNR are probably slim to none.
