10 Hard Rock Bands With KILLER Live Shows
4. Alice Cooper
During the golden age of rock and roll in the '60s, rock shows were good...just not great. While great bands of the British Invasion like the Kinks and the Rolling Stones could excite their audiences with one song after the next, there wasn't too many acts that left people with their mouths on the floor. That is, not until Alice Cooper came along.
When Alice Cooper first came together as a group, the goal was to combine the down and dirty swagger of rock and roll with horror theatrics, with young Vince Furnier donning himself in horrific black spider eye makeup. At first, fans were not having any of it, with the band infamously clearing a room full of concert goers within the span of a few minutes.
Though it started off with a few feather pillows and fighting onstage, fans went from horrified to delighted quickly after Alice involuntarily killed a chicken onstage.
From that point forward, Alice threw every terrifying thing he could into his stage show, from monsters roaming around the drums to him being killed every night and re-emerging more spirited than ever. Even today, Alice is finding new ways to die as a solo star, from being stabbed with a syringe to beheaded on a guillotine to impaled by a box of spikes.
Though many of the rock and rollers were shocking for their time, Alice Cooper was the one artist who single-handedly brought shock rock to households around the world.
