10 Hard Rock Music Artists Who Released Two Great Albums In The Same Year

6. Periphery - Juggernaut: Alpha & Juggernaut: Omega

Formed in Washington D.C. in 2005, Periphery are well-known as pioneers of the djent sub-genre of prog rock. Don't worry, everybody else is quickly googling the word "djent" as well.

Wikipedia describes it as "characterized by its use of off-beat and complex rhythm patterns." We'd describe it as "weird, but also good."

The band took "weird, but also good" to new heights in early 2015 with the release of Juggernaut. It's been described as a double album, but the band took the decision to release it as two separate volumes on the same day, meaning it qualifies for this list.

Phew.

Juggernaut: Alpha and Juggernaut: Omega contain 17 songs spread out over 80 minutes of listening time. In case you were wondering just how prog Periphery were, track titles include "The Scourge", "Hell Below", and "MK Ultra".

That should give you an idea.

Both albums were praised individually upon their release, but it was also noted how well the two records meshed together. One publication even called it the band's "magnum opus", which sounds like it could have been one of the song titles.

If you feel like djent may have something to offer you, these two albums could be the perfect place to start.
