10 Hard Rock Musicians That Died Too Soon
8. Chester Bennington - Linkin Park
By the beginnings of the 2000's, rock was starting to feel incredibly stale. With pop startlets climbing up the charts and nu metal looking like a cartoonified version of teen angst, a little collective called Linkin Park came out of the woodwork with one of the freshest blends of hip hop and rock.
Though the band is known best as a collective team, you couldn't deny the vocal chops of Chester Bennington. While most other nu metal acts would make due with a rapper who would occasionally sing, Bennington gave the band a real rocker of a frontman who could move the audience with some of the best hooks of 2000's rock. Even if every album wasn't up to their standard, no one could have anticipated what went down in the summer of 2017.
As the band were gearing up to go on tour to promote their poppy effort One More Light, Bennington was found dead in his home, having hung himself. Suddenly, the inner turmoil at the heart of all of the band's classic tunes became all too real, with the nu metal frontman losing the fight with his own demons. Though Chester may not be with us anymore, his music will hopefully continue to help kids struggling with their own issues for many years to come.
