10 Hard Rock Songs That Are Impossible To Understand
2. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
There's no rock music fan on the planet who is going to deny the amazing pedigree that comes from Bohemian Rhapsody. In 6 minutes, Freddie Mercury truly created a masterpiece, with one genre blending into the other perfectly with some of the greatest melodic flourishes ever to be found in a rock song. While the actual song sections are woven together perfectly, the same can't be said for the words.
As the song starts off, you start to think that maybe things are coming together, with the ballad section being a dark tale of a man telling his mother that he has killed someone. This kind of stuff seems like the beginning to an old Western tale, that is until the operatic comes in and throws logic right out the window. Despite keeping the poor boy trope throughout, this is a completely different animal from the previous verses, unless our protagonist somehow has started to call upon the almighty powers of Galileo.
Then again, this is one of the songs that doesn't really need a stellar lyric sheet to really get the job done. In fact, any other lyrics would have probably done this song a disservice, with the absurd meshing perfectly with the amazing vocal performance from Mercury. For as much nonsense is on display here, no one's going to deny that this is still an almighty feat of rock brilliance.
