10 Hidden Details In Hard Rock Tracks You Never Noticed

9. Guns N Roses Recorded Sexual Antics On "Rocket Queen"

Guns N Roses' Appetite For Destruction is an absolute masterpiece of hard rock. In just 12 tracks, the band told a comprehensive story of what it was like to live the hard rock lifestyle in seedy Los Angeles circa 1987. Each of the cuts on this record could have been a hit single, but "Rocket Queen" is when the album's production got a bit more carnal.

When the band were mixing the track, Axl Rose was getting more and more frustrated that the song didn't capture the same sleazy vibe that he was aiming for. Suddenly, drummer Steven Adler's girlfriend sauntered into the control room, having just come from having a fight with the drummer uptown.

Quickly seizing the opportunity, Rose asked her if she wanted to be featured on one of the tracks for the record. After she agreed, Rose set up mics in the control room and ended up having sex with his drummer's girlfriend on the studio floor with the tape rolling.

With an engineer keeping everything in check, the audio captured was placed at the breakdown section midway through the tune. So next time you listen to Appetite straight through, just remember the cries of the Rocket Queen may be a bit more dirty than you think.
