10 Hilarious Joke Songs By Rock Artists
4. Spit It Out - Corey Taylor
Not many nu metal bands could really claim to have a sense of humor in their songs. Especially not with a band like Slipknot, unless you count the so bad it's good wrapping in Spit It Out to be funny in retrospect. No, the real hilarity came almost a decade later when you had Corey Taylor deciding to cover himself at one of his solo gigs.
Announcing the first version of this song as a tribute to Sid, Corey steps up to the mic with nothing but an acoustic guitar and starts to rework Spit It Out into an old time country and western song, complete with a little bounce to actually pick everything up. What's even funnier is seeing the crowd get into it, with Corey giving up singing the hook line and letting the fans do most of the heavy lifting.
Granted, Corey pretty much knows which parts to leave out too, mockingly mimicking the weird DJ scratches with his mouth and carefully sidestepping the classic "JUMP THE F*CK UP" that happens at every Slipknot show to this day. If anything, this is the kind of comedy tune that shows just how versatile Corey is as a musician. Even though he brings out the screams at the very end of the tune, he can actually do a pretty decent country impression when he feels like it.
