7. Manic Street Preachers - Motown Junk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axAJ0RtBd7I One of the few bands who kept the punk spirit of the late 70s alive is the legendary Manic Street Preachers and their very first single Motown Junk signalled to us that they were a band who wanted and needed to be heard. The song is pure punk at its finest, with repeated cries of revolution leading its assault on the senses. A band who claimed that they wanted their debut album to sell a million copies and then break up, Manic Street Preachers are still going today, with Motown Junk still being a staple and fan favourite at live shows. Even though they lost their guitarist and main songwriter Richey Edwards in 1995, the band went on to become one of the biggest groups in the UK, even claiming the first UK number one single of the new millennium in The Masses Against The Classes. They are a band who have always stuck to their guns of revolution, revolution, revolution and to see that you only need to listen to their absolute explosion of a debut single.
