10 Incredible Bands Whose First Singles Blew Us Away

4. Sex Pistols - Anarchy In The UK

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOe9PJrbo0s Even if you just say the name €˜Sex Pistols€™ it€™ll conjure up images of defacing posters of the Queen, safety pins through the nose, smashing guitars and just general sex, drugs and rock n€™ roll. No band defined the punk era like Sex Pistols and no band defined the phrase €˜life fast, die young€™ like them. Their debut single, €˜Anarchy In The UK,€™ pretty much sums up their entire ethos in four words. They weren€™t amazing musicians like the Ramones and they didn€™t have the level of fame The Clash did but my God did they have the attitude. One iconic riff starts off this iconic track and the snarling mission statement of Johnny Rotten kicks off three and a half minutes of pure excellence. Alongside €˜God Save The Queen,€™ €˜Anarchy In The UK€™ is considered one of the songs that defined punk and indeed one of the greatest songs of all time. It€™s a song that grabs us by the throats and demands to be taken seriously and set the blueprint for all angry protest songs to come. Without €˜Anarchy In The UK€™ bands would not have the opportunity to put their frustrations with the state of affairs into song and paved the way for every angry young musician to have their words heard. Choice Lyric: €œI am an antichrist€
