10 Incredible Paul McCartney Songs You’ve Never Heard

4. Ode To A Koala Bar

If McCartney must be known as the Beatle who writes sentimental love songs, he may as well knock out perfect examples of the genre like this.

Riding along on plinking piano, similar to early Wings track Tomorrow, Ode to a Koala Bear is a big, mid tempo, power pop number featuring light, airy production and multiple blissful guitar solos. The cute, romantic lyric was inspired by one of his children’s soft toys, adding just a dash of whimsy.

Ode to a Koala Bear is another great McCartney song hidden away on a B-side, this time his duet with Michael Jackson, Say, Say, Say. The superstar assisted A-side is by no means bad but there’s an argument to be made that the sweet and charming B-side is even better.
