This rider request was so insane that it went viral back in 2011. Tour manager for the band, Gus Brandt, made it his personal mission to create a tour rider so absurd everyone would be talking about it. Initially hoping to create a rider that looked like a waffle, the band settled on a colouring book style rider.
The 52-page rider had quite a bit of positive attention and really poked fun at some of the outlandish requests musicians have been known to make. One of the funniest sections in the rider has to be the section regarding their catering needs. Gus made sure to include a very detailed description of the difference between a “Lame Entree”, such as a sandwich with a side of rocks, and an “Awesome Entree”, such as a steak with potatoes.
Unlike a lot of their predecessors, these rock and rollers have made a point of using their rider to make sure that the crew working behind the scenes is properly taken care of. David Grohl is adamant that he is not a fussy eater but had Gus draw up the rider purely for a bit of a laugh while making sure the crew were being fed each day.
