10 Key Elements To The Paul McCartney Is Dead Theory
8. The Walrus Was Paul
The Beatles loved to mess with their fans especially the ones who read too much into their lyrics. For a laugh, the band often inserted hidden messages within the walls of their songs, something that contributed to the eventual "Paul is dead" theory.
One of the most famous clues belongs to Lennon's masterpiece, "I am the Walrus" a song that was fittingly inspired by an acid trip. The tune is full of nonsensical lines and silly noises that refer to previous Beatles records and the lyrics that they contain.
The photoshoot that was used to accompany the track was also clouded in suspicion mostly because John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr were all dressed in white while poor Paul McCartney was draped in black. What could this mean? Death of course.
Lennon referred to the song a couple of years later in the magnificent, "Glass Onion" a track that also referred to previous Beatle tunes. In one part of the song, Lennon can be heard singing, "Well here's another clue for you all, The Walrus was Paul."
The result? Hardcore "Paul is dead" theorists going into overdrive.
