10 Legendary Rock And Metal Bands You Must See Before You Die
10. Foo Fighters
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OO-e8_-bMv8 Back in the 90s, who thought that the Foo Fighters would really make it and become a huge rock n' roll entity with Dave Grohl now an icon rivalling the level of his one-time bandmate, Kurt Cobain? When the band's eponymous first album was released, it was fully of catchy alternative rock songs not all that far from the course Nirvana had set, and for fans of Grohl's first big band, it was fantastic. Then over the years (first with The Colour and The Shape) their sound began to change: more straight up rock, but still with catchy hooks you could easily hum/sing along to. As a live act their sound matured too, and so did their stage presence. Grohl became comfortable as a frontman, and the rest of the band soon settled in. They're well into their career now. If you saw them in the 90s, and then again today, you'd have seen almost two completely different live acts. The Foos are veterans at this point, extremely comfortable on stage, extremely polished, and just brilliant live. Grohl, and especially drummer Taylor Hawkins, have great stage presence and are fantastic at interacting with fans. Humorous interludes like Hawkins and Grohl pretending to argue about how long an encore to play after the main set show just how at ease they all are now on stage.
