7. Tool
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRRfcBPLj8Y Speaking of bands with a fantastic visual/light show, lets talk about Tool. Tool have what is no doubt one of the best video shows of any live act, thanks in no small part to their fantastic back catalog of music videos and a laser show that is completely stunning. The progressive metal band may not be for everyone, but they have now remained a top act for the better part of three decades despite
releasing material at what can only be referred to as a snail's pace. Live, Tool is probably unlike any other band - each member has their own segment of the stage, and singer Maynard James Keenan does not act as a frontman, but is often out of the spotlight, sometimes not even facing the crowd. This has been claimed to be, over the years, a reaction to stage fright, the idea that the singer is just another instrument and should not stand out, and a method to aid with the personal nature of the songs he's singing. It matters not - even without a traditional frontman, Tool are something to behold live. In particular, watch drummer Danny Carey, one of the best in the business - his work on the kit is mesmerising. The only downside is the band tends to play a short set for a group of its stature, and given some Tool songs clock in at upwards of ten minutes, you may only get a ten song set.
