10 Legendary Rock Bands That Aren't In The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
1. Rage Against the Machine
From the first time that rock and roll was heard on the radio, it was always about some form of rebellion. The pop market was getting stale until Chuck Berry came along, and some of the greatest musicians of their time got to where they were by defying the trends and setting the stage for something new on the horizon. It was always about being yourself, and Rage Against the Machine can't claim to have one inauthentic bone in their body.
Even with only a handful of albums to their name, Rage was always defined by the kind of creative risks they were taking, whether that be with their own musical style or Zack de la Rocha singing about real life atrocities in the world, from the injustices that come with the politically corrupt to the horrors that happen on the ground floor of society, with people in poverty struggling to survive and being treated like dirt. Outside of just the political message, Tom Morello practically deserves his own exhibit in the Hall of Fame, from the ways he upended the guitar community with his effects to making wild sounds that made him a DJ and guitarist at the exact same time.
For every single reason that Rage deserves an accolade like this though, it might be for the best that they haven't bitten the bullet just yet and have chosen to lay on the fringes of classic status. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is about honoring the heroes of rock and roll's past, and Rage feel much more content with living in the present and trying to spark change with every single note they play.
