10 Massive Drops In Quality Between Albums

6. One More Light - Linkin Park

Linkin Park really had struggled with what they wanted to be for most of the 2010's. Although their album A Thousand Suns proved to be a lot more forward thinking in the coming years, the cold reception at the time made them want to strip things back to basics, from the classic sounds of Living Things to going even more aggro on The Hunting Party. When they got the itch to making something even more outlandish though, the nu metal fans were ice cold to whatever happened on One More Light.

If you look at this album back to back with The Hunting Party, you'd swear you were listening to two separate bands, going full pop and dipping their toes into modern production on songs like Heavy. While Mike Shinoda had made a point of trying to make this record for his kids, the translation of those feelings tend to get lost in the mix a lot of the time, especially when the guys known for Numb and Place for My Head hop on a track that sounds like it should be background music in a retail store.

This was just an experiment for the band though...it's just unfortunate that it happened to be the last one they got to make together, as Chester Bennington would commit suicide a few months after the record was released. Every band goes through their fair share of shakeups, but leaving things on such a polarizing release was definitely a heavy blow.
