10 Metallica Songs That Have Been Played The Most Live

5. One - 1,578 Times

Metallica once again proved they were the most cultured group of weirdo metalheads on the planet when they put out a song based on the book and film, Johnny Got His Gun, which tells the story of a young soldier trapped inside his own paralysed body.

The single release of One, which came from 1988's ...And Justice for All, was cut down to just over five minutes, which is still pretty long for a single. Nevertheless, at live shows, the band are more than happy to unleash the full seven-and-a-half minute version in all its glory.

They've done this 1,578 times over their careers, which means that, if we take One to be seven-and-a-half minutes long, they've played it for a combined total of 708,750 minutes, which is equal to one week, one day, and over four hours.

Wow.

All of that is time well spent, as One is a masterpiece. Expertly crafted, the minutes fly by as you find yourself enraptured by the grim story being told. One is absolutely flawless, which is why Metallica have endured the blisters for so many years.
