10 Metallica Songs That Have Been Played The Most Live

3. Seek And Destroy - 1,591 Times

The only song from Metallica's debut record to make this list, Kill 'Em Al, wasn't even released as a single. Yet, it has featured on pretty much every Metallica concert since it first got played in 1982.

Seek & Destroy is, apparently, about the urge of wanting to kill but not actually going through with it, which is precisely what somebody who did actually go through with it would say. It's the penultimate song on Kill 'Em All, but was the first track they recorded in the studio, making it a little piece of metal history.

Its enduring popularity means that Seek & Destroy has survived many changes to the Metallica setlist over the years. It has been played 1,591 times, with bassist Jason Newstead sometimes taking over vocal duties during his stint with the band.

In terms of tracks from Kill 'Em All, its nearest competitor is Whiplash, which has been played nearly 600 fewer times than its contemporary.

It's astonishing to see a song from so far back in a band's career get treated with such love and respect, but even with a considerable head start, it still couldn't crack the top two.
