10 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Metallica

5. Death Magnetic Is Largely Considered To Be The Loudest Album Ever Recorded

We all know that Metallica like to get loud, but for their 2008 record Death Magnetic, they took things to a whole new level – quite literally. It wasn’t their best album by any stretch of the imagination, but it was their loudest.

The album was mixed so loud, in fact, that many sound engineering experts have deemed it the loudest album they’ve ever come across. Run this LP through a soundboard, and it will be clipping from here to high heaven. Despite their Spinal Tap-esque approach on the record, most have concurred that cranking up the loudness dial during the mixing process only serves to dampen many of the other frequencies.

It’s pretty futile telling Metallica not to be so loud, because judging by their discography to date, that’s just something they’re not prepared to entertain.
