10 More Hugely Outspoken Men In Rock And Metal Music

9. Brendon Urie

As a man who seemingly had a squeaky clean reputation to those on the outside looking in for years, some less than favourable allegations about Panic! at the Disco's Brendon Urie have started to slip through the cracks recently. In response, opposition to Urie have claimed it's signs of the truth finally coming out, while fans have said he's simply a victim of cancel culture.

In 2020, a plethora of accusations came out against Urie via Twitter, including claims of his transphobic, homophobic, ableist and racist past. The most troubling footage to resurface caught Urie saying the following while playing live with Panic! at the Disco:

If I see you after the show, I'm gonna f**k you. I don't care if you want it. I more care if you don't want it. Because then I really want it.

Urie also caused a firestorm in 2016 through his old Vine account, where he uploaded a video of himself making jokes about bipolar disorder. On top of this, he has also been accused of making transphobic comments in the past and has admitted to using slurs which are offensive to transgender people. However, he did apologise for the use of this word in a Twitch live stream, but the damage had clearly already been done.

Away from social issues, Urie has also expressed strong political views in the past, particularly when he referred to Donald Trump as a "piece of sh*t" during a 2016 interview with Pop Buzz. A lot of allegations against Urie have been wholesale rejected by his fans, but they still seem to bubble up again every few years.
