10 More Near Perfect Punk Rock Albums

8. Pinkshift: Saccharine (2021)

Pinkshift are part of the new wave of pop-punk bands fuelling a renewed interest in the somewhat tired genre. But they're not merely leaning on the past; this group are invigorating the field with an eclectic list of influences. Their debut EP will have your nostalgia receptors firing, while giving hope that there's new ground to be explored. There's touches of Avenged Sevenfold in their metal-inspired riffs. And, the choruses will have you remembering the times you played Paramore shamelessly on repeat. But, as you get into some of the later tracks, you realise there's far more nuance to their sound.

I'm Gonna Tell My Therapist On You transformed them from a small group on the Baltimore scene, to an online sensation. It channels the impassioned angst of My Chemical Romance, while hinting at the mounting pressure we all feel in a world of social media and spurious news sources. The culmination of such pressure is summed up with the lyric "The meds aren't working for me anymore".

If you enjoyed naughties pop-punk but always felt like it could use a little more bite, then Pinkshift are what you've been looking for.
