10 More Rock Songs That Insulted Other Musicians

9. Bye Bye Beautiful - Nightwish

In 2005, Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish axed their lead singer Tarja Turunen.

A member of the group since its inception, Turunen was dismissed via an open letter in which the band stated that they were fed up of her not taking the project seriously and only focusing on making money.

Aren't Scandinavians meant to be chill?

Two years after this very public dismissal, Nightwish returned with new album Dark Passion Play and new singer Anette Olzon. The album's third single was called Bye Bye Beautiful which, despite having a complimentary title, was actually a diss track aimed at Turunen.

Lines like "Did we play to become only pawns in the game?" reference how the band felt used by their former vocalist in her quest to further her own career. Equally, there are lyrics like “Did you ever read what I wrote you?" and "Did you ever listen to what we played?”, which are about Turunen's perceived lack of interest in the band's creative output.

Okay, between this and the open letter, she's probably got the message that you aren't that fond of her anymore.
