10 Most Anticipated Hard Rock & Heavy Metal Albums Of 2017
5. Sepultura - Machine Messiah
Poor Sepultura.
Despite being a band that's been going for about 30 years now, the past 20 have been somewhat rough, after beloved front-man Max Cavalera exited in 1996 (during the band's commercial peak caused by their masterful Roots album), something that a handful of original fans still can't seem to find themselves getting over.
But the defiant Brazilian quartet has continued to evolve, adapt and thrive in Cavalera's absence with some of their ventures working (like Dante XXI and the recent Mediator Between the Head and Hands Must Be the Heart record), and others not (I'm looking at you, Against).
But based upon the one thing we've heard from it so far - that being the single "I Am the Enemy" - it sounds like Machine Messiah could fit into the former category.
Aggressive, short, undiluted and guttural, the track is a powerhouse of hatred that will hopefully be the gatekeeper to a post-Cavalera Sepultura opus.
