10 Most Embarrassing Instances Of Product Placement In Music

9. Lady Gaga €“ Telephone

Why shill one product when you can shill a bunch of products? You didn't actually think music videos were getting longer and more ambitious for the sake of art, did you? If Lady Gaga is anything to go by, it's merely to maximise advertisement revenue. The video for Telephone was released in 2009 from Gaga's album The Fame Monster. Featuring Beyonce, the video is a sort of Tarantino-esque thriller, featuring a daring jailbreak and more gratuitous shots of brand products than you could shake an Amazon Fire TV Stick at (just £34.99 at all available retailers). Beginning with a close-up of Virgin Mobile (the first of many) and featuring HP, Plenty Of Fish (yeah, the dating site) and the great refreshing taste of Diet Coke, the placement comes thick and fast, and to cover all of it would be to acknowledge that I've witnessed it at all, which counts as a loss in my book.
